for shame...

that it'ss been so long since the last time i wrote.

well folks... we're down to 247.5
goooooooooooooodnight gooooooooooooodbye and good frickin riddance to the 250's...
i NEVER want to see you ever again! hopefully i can lose enough weight that i'll never even see you when i'm pregnant next time! whenever that may be...

it does feel good just to be in a different set of 10's.... that probably sounds stupid.

well there's some new goings on... we're alllllllll about weight watchers around here! brett has become a NAZI which is really good for me as well... he keeps me on my toes. and as an added bonus.... we're on the bandwagon with anti and vince and we even email all our food and points every single day.
its nice to be doing this with our best friends! and its so nice that we're all doing something great for ourselves and feeling good about it all together.

i'm also back to jazzercising! WHICH IS SO GREAT. i really loved running... but i couldn't do it enough with any regularity.. mainly because i didn't want to take owen in the running stroller... i'm too spastic with the thing... brett is good at it though.. which is nice.
anyway... i really hope to keep this up. because i've been in a great mood since i've started!
ok its day 2.... but i feel so good! and i want to keep feeling this way.

firsts.

i lost 5ish pounds over the last 4 weeks.
considering some of it was half assed.... i'll take it!

well.
one day this week i ran for 16minutes straight! for a big ole girl... i'm chalking that up as an accomplishment. i can only do it, however... without the stroller. i'm not so great at managing keeping the stroller straight, wondering if owen is crying, changing tunes on my ipod, and actually moving my legs all at the same time. i'm going to need help from the hubs if i want to keep this up. as in, running in the evening perhaps?? or maybe just maaaaaaybe arrising early in the morning before he leaves? hmm. we'll have to ponder that. and wait, did i say running? i should really just call it elevated walking... perhaps a mere jog. but nothing more.

i'm also considering re-joining jazzercise. i hear they have babysitters in the next room from the gym at the 9:15 class for all the tots. i'm contemplating the germ factor. but that sure would be something fun to do everyday. we'll see...

also... my son is suddenly growing up up up up up. and its just really something to watch.
just yesterday he realized he could sit up all by himself, he's rolling all over the universe, he sprung a tooth on the bottom front left, and we went swimming for the first time! not like head dunking and floaties. but we got in a pool. all in all i suppose to him it was like taking a big bath with a SUPER soggy diaper on. but nevertheless, he had a big day yesterday! and the saddest part is that we had to leave daddy at home while we're having fun with my family in florida... and all this happened while he was home!! talk about the pits. i cannot believe owen will be 6 months old in 4 little days. half a year! what what! i love him more every single solitary day.

alrighty then... good times...

public obstacle number 1

agggggggggggggggravated at myself.
went to new orleans for the weekend for my sister's bridal shower and got off off off my plan.
but since i'm not dieting anymore-- its more like i just detracted a bit from my new found lifestyle... and have since been detracted since ive been home and ive been sick and and just sort of been a bump on a log. not running. not eating soooo well.
it just puts me in a frumpy mood. and for the past few weeks i'd been feeling so well!

then the baby got sick, now i'm sick.... blah blah.

and to top it off, the weather is nasty.
oh and even the cat is sick.

we're having a blast over here....!!!
will be back in business shortly.....

a better week.



here is the picture from christmas day that sent me oVER the edge.
oh wouldn't it be nice to say i was still pregnant.... oh but look... there's my son in the little green outfit... currently NO longer in my stomach.
well hell damn.

anyhow,
a week later and things are on the up and up...
i feel pretty damn good.


whole wheat everything, more veggies, soymilk, fruit, fat free yogurt, wasa, salmon, grilled chicken. i've really been trying. not necessarily focusing on portion control just yet. but just making the switch... the inside of my fridge looks prettier. and i put a sign on my fridge from a weight watchers ad in a magazine that says, DIETS ARE MEAN. God aren't they... but i'll tell you what else is mean. the thoughts in my head when i look at that Godforsaken PICTURE. ughhh.





i've been running. well, run/walk-ing. doing a program called Couch to 5k. i'm up to running 90 seconds and walking 2 minute intervals for about 20-25 minutes or so. and yesterday i wanted to see if i could run longer without actually dying. and made it a little over 4 minutes!!!! its the small things that are becoming the most satisfying..oK!? the next step is to walk 90 seconds then run 90 seconds and then do 3 whole minutes of each!! why am i scared! i know i can do it.


i feel better exercising. of course i do.... who wouldn't. i'm also trying to add some strength training to the mix... bringing back the old ball and weights and doing the Core Secrets dvd's. Well, i've done it once. but i'm going to try to run every other day and then do the dvd's in between. as much as possible.





and also, i signed up for weight watchers online because i would like to give up the food's that Best Life suggests giving up... but I need portion control-- as mentioned earlier. and points seem like the best way. so i can do both. and LIVE ON both in a manageable way..
this is what i'm giving up by the way....
regular soda
white bread
regular pasta
fried foods
anything with trans fats
high fat dairy.

take that to the bank.

this is why.

So. another year of attempting to change the way i look. i feel like i've been down this road 2394823094 times before. maybe journaling, maybe blogging, maybe writing down what i eat, maybe trying weight watchers, or atkins, or la weight loss, or sugar busters, or just making good decisions (which always ended up being terrible ones)... and for whatever reason i'm the biggest i've ever been in a non-pregnant state.

but now its time to get to that reason. what is the reason? i remember writing in my journal in 8th grade (1995) .... about being 141 pounds and remember thinking that was the biggest i'd ever get because i was bigger than anyone i knew, and everyone at school... so that was 13 years ago. lets do a little math. this morning i weighed 253 pounds. so i've averaged putting on about 8.5 pounds a year since then... sometimes losing a little here and there- then gaining it all back plus some.... but its been the constant creep uphill my entire life.

so lets answer some of Bob Greene's questions....

1. Why are you overweight?
well obviously, i eat too much. that is the easy answer. my portions are out of control. i have no willpower. i lack motivation. i don't exercise enough. or barely at all. i constantly have a million excuses. its always something. there's always an event, a party, a holiday, a reason, an outing, whatever.
but Bob doesn't want to hear the easy answers. he says there is a deep underlying reason why i've become the way i am. and those reasons i just gave are superficial.
there is a reason i'm not living my best life. i can't put my finger on it. but i know that i neglect myself. maybe i think its beyond the point of return. when i see that i've gained weight or when i continue to outgrow clothes... i punish myself by eating more. and i don't think i'm an emotional eater. or if i am, i eat for every emotion that ever existed. but i don't have any particular vice like oh i'm so sad i'm going to eat 5 hershey's bars. thats really not it. i just eat. i can pinpoint the fact that i eat when no one is looking. especially at my parents house. my mom has been on me about my weight for as long as i can remember and so i can admit to some psychological mindgame that i play when she isn't looking at home that i eat whatever i can find to somehow "get back at her" which i'm well aware makes absolutely no sense. its not her ass thats getting fatter. i've never been able to explain that but i do know there is something about that that is a problem ive never actually dealt with.
why else... what else..
i feel like i compensate my own happiness by making others happy-- therefore forgetting myself. and by putting all my efforts into making sure everyone else is fine-- its like i don't have to deal with myself. not because i don't have time, or because i'm trying to be some big selfless martyr... but because i think it might be a defense mechanism for not wanting to deal with it. because is too much of a hassel, its too far gone, its too out of control- its going to take me too long to fix-- or that it seems impossible too fix. its exhausting to think about. maybe because i've never seen successful. or because i constantly start things i can't finish. something always comes up, there's always an excuse to start later, start tomorrow, next week, next year.
well i'm so tired of that...

2. Why do I want to lose weight?

i'm so tired of not taking care of myself. and putting these thoughts in the back of my mind oh that one day i'll do it. one day i'll put myself first. and i'm really not selfless and trying to be all high and mighty... its not that. i AVOID myself. i'm so sick of my own body and my own thoughts about myself and my own actions that i spend so much energy avoiding myself... and its disgusting. i disgust me. do you think that makes God proud of me? i know it doesn't. and then the guilt and sadness takeover. and i go on avoiding... its time for something else.
you'd have thought i might be worth changing for, or that i'd have done something about it for my wedding, or my husband. (who by the way i have never been able to act like a trusting wife around... always hiding, covering up, no lights on.. its awful)
but now i have owen. my precious perfect son. who i want to be around for until the last possible minute of my life... i have never ever ever ever ever loved someone so much. i am so sick of being unhealthy that i cannot live this life anymore the way i've been living it... and now i have a purpose to be healthy. and its so sad that I never thought that i MYSELF was a good enough reason. and somewhere underneath it all i know i am good enough. but when i look at owen... i just know i have to do something about it for him. i want to live my best life for him because he is the best part about my life..... and i owe it to him. and to me. and to my husband. and my family. and to appreciate myself more because God has blessed my life in so many ways that i know i don't do a good enough job respecting His gifts and blessings.

i want to do a better job at ME. i want to live a better life... stop saying i'll do it later, i'll do it tomorrow, i'll start tomorrow. just stop it. my life is passing me by. and now we've started a family... with a gorgeous perfect baby boy.. i want to be my best for him. i want him to never remember that i was so overweight and miserable.

so this isn't a diet. i'm over diets. diets are mean. this is an effort for a change in my life, in our lives. i refuse to use the phrase.. i'm on a diet. i want to live my very best life.
